"For anyone thinking of coming with friends or grandparents, family etc. the 'little house' works really well as a 'refuge' *In-laws stayed there and had their own space- worked a treat "
here are bicycles available at the house for your use.
Where we cannot offer you the tranquillity of a remote country gite, what you get in Barrou is a boulangerie (baker) boucherie (butcher) and épicier (grocer) all within walking distance of the house. There is a boulodrome in the centre of the village for ‘Petanque (boules).
The
restaurant is typical of small villages of the region in
that it is also has a separate bar area where the locals
meet over coffee or a glass of wine to discuss the
events of the day. It serves traditional fare at good
prices and is a good place to join the locals
for lunch
- you will not be disappointed. It also provides a takeaway pizza menu.
Only 10 minutes away is
the pretty spa town of La Roche Posay
with its Casino, racecourse and golf course.
Within
45 mins of the house you also have the
beautiful sandy beaches of the
St.Cyr Leisure Parc.
and Bellebouche within La Brenne Natural Parc--
also ideal for walking and bird-watching-- so there is no need to drive to the coast!
There is also safe
river swimming at nearby Lesigny and La Roche Posay.
So you can have a true
French village experience with these additional
holiday choices all in one
