There are many opportunities for canoe/kayak hire within Indre et Loire and Vienne with the nearest being from the banks of the calm river Creuse (‘The Hollow One’) opposite the house! The club which is based in Descartes just 15 minutes from Barrou will bring the equipment up to the nearby village of La Guerche and you make your way back there in your own time. You also have the nearby options of La Roche Posay, Angles-sur-L’Anglin and Chatellerault.

If you prefer to kayak/canoe on a lake then the Saint Cyr recreation centre which is set on the edge of an 85 ha. lake, within a 300 ha. natural complex is for you. Canoe & kayak hire at the lake-side. Other possibilities include bathing, yachting, wind surfing, fishing, tennis, archery, jogging trail, pedalos plus children’s play area.
