We have been very comfortable here but have not spent much time in the house as
we have had sunny, crisp fall weather-perfect for exploring this interesting
area....This is a great time to visit as few tourists, nothing crowded,
Wonderful holiday!

Our stay at 'The Old Walnut Mill' has been very enjoyable. The weather has been
a bit damp and dreary but did not stop us visiting the surrounding
sites,Tours,Amboise,Chenonceau,Azay le Rideau etc. We also spent a day around
Barrou looking round the local chateau(La Guerch). We ended the visit with lunch
at the 'Cafe de la Poste' -- 4 courses + wine- 11 euros--what a bargain!

For me, Emlyn, the trip to the Loire Valley was very
special ,almost exactly 50 years after I had first
planned to visit on a school trip from England.
Obviously to travel widely and see the towns and
chateaux etc is very time consuming but what we did see
was memorable. We hope the next guests enjoy their visit
as much as we did.

What a beautiful home from home you have created, so lovely and quiet and
peaceful. It is so obviously lovingly and tastefully restored this old walnut
mill, ideal for a relaxing restful break.

The Old Walnut Mill is quite the house, large, spacious and comfortable. As
others have observed this house has the feeling of a genuine home-not just
another rental unit. We appreciate all the thoughtful touches.... that made it
really feel like home. Memorable! 'Vive le petit chateau' in Grande Rue!

This is the seventh time we've stayed in France and can honestly say that "The
Old Walnut Mill" is the best equipped and most comfortable house we have
come across so far. Extremely relaxing and a superb point from which to discover
the treasures of the Loire Valley and surrounding areas. Many thanks to Jim and
Pauline for putting in the extra effort to ensure that this cottage is a real
home from home.

We enjoyed a very peaceful week in this delightful Gite.
Very comfortable and so much space! Set in a lovely village, and so close to all
parts of the Loire region. Many interesting places on hand to visit, many of the
local towns with their typical French markets were a treat. This is a great base
for anyone who wants to visit rural France with many great places and
countryside to enjoy.

The house was everything promised and more. Very
charming, reasonably priced, all our needs considered
and met. The little village and the river side park
area just across the way are very nice. It gave us a
chance for a pleasant walk at end of day.
I am a
fussy sleeper and found the bedding and mattress, and the general 'feel' of the
bedroom to be more than adequate and quite attractive. I especially liked the
view of the little courtyard from the upstairs windows.
We would recommend the Old Walnut Mill for anyone traveling in that area and
hope to return someday ourselves.

Our stay in your house has been a lovely experience and we will take home with
us some very fond memories. It is so quiet and peaceful here, and within easy
reach of all the chateaux and places of interest. It truly has been a French
experience we have all enjoyed.

When we entered the courtyard our first reaction was "wow", and the interior of
the Old Walnut Mill was even more spacious and character filled than we had
expected. We felt relaxed and at home straight away and enjoyed exploring the
areas attractions from this charming base. Everything is provided and our stay
was so enjoyable we did not want to leave. We highly recommend the Old Walnut
Mill to anyone and thank Jim and Pauline for a most wonderful holiday in Barrou,
and we hope to return one day.

"We've come a long way from the west coast of Canada to visit the Loire Valley
and sample it's secrets- every step of the journey has been worth it. It's been
a whirlwind of touring, an overload to all our senses, but this beautiful little
"pièd à terre" has helped to keep us sane, with feet still on the ground for the
most part. The Old Walnut Mill will always be a tremendously fond memory.
Jim and Pauline, we appreciate how much of yourselves you've put into this place
and how much effort you've expended making it the ideal jumping off spot for the
Loire's garden of delights. You are the perfect ghost-hosts.
It has been a delightful week and it has been so nice to be in a home
environment rather than a hotel! What it does do is now the temptation to maybe,
just maybe, someday, do something like this on our own! Thanks again and may
your future with the Old Walnut Mill be full of success." BC, Canada
