Americans visiting the Loire Valley
|
We are pleased to have had guests staying at 'Les Balcons' from
the USA, normally as part of a larger trip
that usually includes Paris. We have a page dedicated to
arriving in Paris and travelling on to the Loire Valley
here...
and are happy to advise you on any other matter with regards
to your journey from Australia to the Loire Valley and your
itinerary while you are with us. Not keen on driving from
Paris? talk
to us about alternatives.

This has been a
wonderful week. Jim & Pauline have been so welcoming and
had many good suggestions for things to do. We really
concentrated on the local area as there are so many things
to see and do, We could not think of anything to change. Le
Grand Pressigny is a darling town. We loved Grand Ma's and
the hotel for dinners, We will definitely tell folks about
this wonderful house! Thank you all so very much.

'Five star
experience' - thanks to Jim & Pauline for not only providing
such a well equipped home but for all the advice and
assistance - some beyond the 'call of duty'. We travel
around the world a lot and you have made this 'world class'.

Thank you Pauline
& Jim for a wonderful week in the Loire Valley. We loved
staying at 'Les Balcons' it is the perfect home away from
home. We followed many of the directions and recommendations
in Jim's book and had great visits to Chenonceau and other
chateaux.Great dining at 'Le Promenade', Grand Ma's in the
village and in La Roche Posay. This is a lovely part of the
world and we look forward to returning. Thank you so much.

After 5 weeks in
this lovely place it feels like home. I am sitting on the
balcony listening to the birds and regretting that this
lovely time has come to a close. We came to see the
countryside and we certainly did do that!. So many charming
villages, back-roads...and friendly warm people. Many great
places to eat ( follow Jim & Pauline's lavender book -- it's
a bible of sorts! ) Loches, Montresor, Azay le Rideau and
farther afield - Cahors and the never to be forgotten
experience of Oradour sur Glane all going into the memory
bank forever. We give so many thanks to our patient, warm
hosts Pauline and Jim, thank you for a remarkable time.

Betty and I wish
you both good health and a very successful year. We will
always remember you as two of the nicest people we have ever
met. Thank you for making that vacation a memorable one.
You may quote us:
Our stay at “les
Balcons” in Le Grand Pressigny exceeded all our
expectations. The house is fully equipped with modern
equipment (even music in the shower!), spotlessly clean,
with a delightful outlook on the surrounding gardens from
the upstairs balcony. It is within walking distance of
stores and cafés in the quaint village. The friendly owners
live nearby and were always available for information and
directions. We highly recommend it for a great vacation
experience.

'Les Balcons' was home
to us because of your great care and attention to detail. The village was
welcoming and relaxing - great food at 'Grand Ma's' and 'La Promenade'. We
wont forget the nights on the balcony!
Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for a
wonderful week in the country. The house was perfect and Le Grand Pressigny
is the loveliest town. The drawer of brochures lead us to some of the most
beautiful villages we have ever seen. Thank you Jim & Pauline

The reviews below were
for the 'Old Walnut Mill' which is currently closed for
booking due to renovation work at the house and barn. As you
can see we are striving to offer the same level of customer
service at 'Les Balcons' and 'Le Bourg'

Over the top!
Every corner and nook is another aesthetic surprise. Comfort
and accommodation - nothing lacking. Charming "landlords"
who treated us a old friends. Their generosity touched us.
Quality and thoughtfulness - merci beaucoup!

It couldn't be better!, the house and
courtyard thoughtfully prepared for a pleasant stay, the beautiful setting
of Barrou village and your warm hospitality made our time here
unforgettable. The children were charmed by the house the first glance as
well and the collection of books went in line with their imagination of very
special places. All our trips were unique and full of French experiences
which will be with us a while. Thank you for a wonderful week and all
the best for the future.

Our family
had a wonderful holiday in the 'Old Walnut Mill'-Jim & Pauline have made a
beautifully organised home with fantastic reference material and more than
comfortable accommodation, We will always remember the fun we had learning and
playing 'Petanque' with you and your neighbour David. You are truly excellent
hosts!

We have been very comfortable
here but have not spent much time in the house as we have had sunny, crisp fall
weather-perfect for exploring this interesting area....This is a great time to
visit as few tourists, nothing crowded,
Wonderful holiday!

The house was everything promised and more. Very
charming, reasonably priced, all our needs considered
and met. The little village and the river side park
area just across the way are very nice. It gave us a
chance for a pleasant walk at end of day.
I am a fussy sleeper and found the bedding and
mattress, and the general 'feel' of the bedroom to be more than
adequate and quite attractive. I especially liked the view of
the little courtyard from the upstairs windows.
We would recommend the Old Walnut Mill for anyone
travelling in that area and hope to return someday
ourselves.
