Vines du Val de Loire

The nearest vineyard/cave to the house is 'Domaine de Ris' at Bossay-sur-Claise (20 min).

These are the most southerly of the Touraine AOC wines. It was formerly attached to the Chateau de Ris which was the ancient seat of the Barony of Preuilly, the first Barony of Touraine. There are 15 hectares of vines growing the seven principle varieties of grape from which 'Appellation Touraine' wines are produced : Chenin, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cot.

The proprietor Ms. Sabadie speaks English and will be happy to answer any questions you might have during wine tasting. Expect to pay 5euros + per bottle.

Open 10.00 'til 12.00 am and 3.00 'til 6.00 pm Monday to Saturday and 10.00 'til 12.00 am Sunday during July and August.

Open 3.00 'til 6.00 pm Monday to Saturday and 10.00 'til 12.00 am Sunday during September

There are of course many opportunities for wine tasting in what is one of France's most popular wine producing areas.


Whether you sample the reds of Chinon and Bourgueil or some of the delightful sparkling wines of Saumur, Vouvray or Montlouis you will not be disappointed.


There are seven vineyard trails now marked out within the region - you will find information on these in the house.


You can choose to be guided by these or visit one of the 'Espace des Producteurs' or simply visit a cave that you happen upon on your travels -  whichever method you choose to explore you will be impressed by the choice on offer - bon sante!!
