'Les Balcons'

For your holiday in France

'Les Balcons' is a substantial 3 bedroom Loire Valley house over two floors with a delightful raised balcony offering lovely views, giving you a countryside feel but with all the village amenities. There is also a 'Juliet' balcony off one of the bedrooms. The house is located in the charming village of Le Grand Pressigny in Southern Touraine within the Centre - Val de Loire region in France.

From your Loire Valley house it is only a few minutes walk to the village centre with its restaurants, bars and shops. The village’s location halfway between the cities of Tours and Poitiers makes it an ideal base to explore the Loire Valley, its many chateaux and pretty villages as well as the department of Vienne where you can visit the theme park of Futuroscope. The nearest chateaux  at Le Guerche and Le Grand Pressigny itself are only minutes away. You can have a true French experience as it is relatively 'tourist free' but still take advantage of all this beautiful area has to offer, everything from picturesque villages, citadel towns ( many with their own chateau), sandy beaches by beautiful lakes, safari parks and troglodytes.

There are many gites and self catering properties to rent for your French holiday, but this Loire Valley village house, all you see, is a complete family home, giving you spacious accommodation with beamed ceilings and tiled floors downstairs helping it retain its French charm. It is a private and self-contained  3 bed-roomed 'home from home'.

What you also get is the local experience of your hosts who, although not on site, are within easy reach and only too pleased to help overcome any small problems that may arise while travelling in a country with cultural and language differences, we make ourselves available to make your Loire Valley Holiday as carefree as possible. (see previous guests comments here....)

Your Loire Valley holiday rental accommodation:

Your Loire Valley accommodation has a large comfortable salon with beamed ceiling and tiled floor. There is a wood-burner for the cooler months plus central heating for the winter months.*

It is equipped with two large sofas, a cd player / music centre, Ipod doc., a television (sat/'freeview' ) and dvd player.

Your holiday home kitchen has gas hob, electric oven, integral fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee percolator, toaster, plus all you need in a 'home from home'.

There are feature French doors  which lead on to the garden with area for alfresco dining. There is a nice uninterrupted view from the kitchen.

You will find fresh milk, tea, coffee, bottled water and a bottle of wine on your arrival.

The dining room, which seats six, leads off the kitchen. It has its original tiles and its own door to the outside dining space.

There is also a patio in the rear garden of the house and a gas barbeque for your use.

The house has 3 double bedrooms positioned so as to give each its own privacy, one downstairs,  one upstairs at the front of the house and one to the rear.

The two double bedrooms upstairs have double aspect windows making them light and airy.

The bedroom to the front of the house has a small 'Juliet' balcony off it.

The main upstairs bedroom, with its king-sized bed, is beside the corridor to the rear balcony.

The third double bedroom with its tiled floor and beamed ceiling is downstairs

The house has a full bathroom downstairs and shower room upstairs.

There is a separate study with a very good selection of books, DVD's and CD's.   You have access to free WiFi link. We also provide you with information and guides on what to do and where to visit during your Loire Valley holiday.

The raised terrace provides another option for relaxing and sampling some of the excellent wines of the Loire Valley while watching the sun setting around you..

Where we can't offer you the isolation, peace and tranquillity of the countryside the trade-off with this delightful village house is that all the amenities you need are within walking distance of the house.

As you can see from the old postcard below our street has not changed much over the years (apart from the name) so you will be able to get a feel for true French country living.

Here is our favourite view on the street - it is actually within the garden of the large house on the right - taken from the little bridge - and changes with the seasons.

The department of Indre-et-Loire is what was formerly the Touraine Region within the Loire Valley, France.

The Village in pictures

Some guest's comments

21/09/2012

Sadly our week at 'Les Balcons' has come to an end and we bid au revoir to this wonderful maison and Pauline and Jim, such helpful and gracious hosts. We have enjoyed exploring this lovely region of France with lasting memories of the Saturday market at Loches, chateaux at Loches and Chenonceau, the pretty village at Le Petit Pressigny, bus trip to Tours and the delights of the local village - boulangerie and 'Grand Ma's'. Our timing and the butcher's somehow did not sync so we will have to return another time to sample his wares.

Pauline & Jim again- merci beaucoup.

We had a splendid time, thank you Jim and Pauline for providing us with such excellent accommodation and nice comfy beds. So here are a few of our favourite things to share with future guests:

Chateaux visited, Chenonceau and Azay le Rideau, also Villandry - excellent. We also visited Montresor, it was really like stepping back in time. 'Café de la Ville' was great for lunch there and the staff were really welcoming. We spentplenty of sunny afternoons swimming in the river at Barrou/Lesigny - fabulous.  Chaumussay broconte was brilliant and our favourite market was at Loches. It was a wonderful visit!...Great memories!
